What does Rilèks mean?

Kids T-shirt in Caribbean Aqua printed with Rilèks
Rilèks describes the way tourists like to see the Caribbean, a relaxed paradise. Many people think that Curaçao is a very easy place to stay, where people call ‘mañana’ if they’re asked to do something. They are prejudiced by the idea that the locals have a go-with-the-flow-attitude. And maybe it looks on the outside however, for the record, working in Curacao is as much stressful as in Europe or the United States. And yes, Curaçao has traffic jams, too.
Although people also say relaha, suave or trankil, shirts&words chose rilèks because it has it’s origin in English. We had our mind set on pleasing the American cruise-tourist and the local teenagers. For teenagers it is fashionable to use English among their friends.
